From Ruin To Treasure:

This month's post is inspired by the Rumi quote “Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure.” Rumi

“Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure,” reminds us that breakdown is not the opposite of becoming; it is often the doorway. The treasure is not hidden, despite the ruin, but because of it. When something falls apart, what was buried under habit, fear, or an old sense of self is finally exposed to air and light. Ruin clears the ground and makes room for what is real.

Ruin is the moment when structures, inner or outer, can no longer pretend to be whole. What falls apart does so because it has already completed its service. In that breaking, something essential is revealed: truth without adornment, life without pretense.

Seen in this way, ruin is not failure; it is permission. Permission to lay down what no longer fits the season we are in. Permission to grieve without deciding that something has gone wrong.

The treasure won’t always be the same, and is rarely loud. It may arrive as subtle clarity, a gentler strength, or the quiet return of possibility where there was once only survival. Each of us moves through endings in our own time. There is no right pace, and rarely is there a prize for rushing. The invitation is simply to stay present with what has ended, and stay long enough to see what it leaves behind. Often, we realize life was not taking something from us; it was making space.

Where there is ruin,

there is not only hope for treasure,

there is a map,

drawn in the ashes of what we thought was lost.

It's never too late to rebuild

“Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead, let life flow through you.” This is a quiet invitation to adapt. When we stop resisting change, we begin to see that change is not meant to break us, but to push us forward, into wider horizons. Life already knows how to move. Our challenge is to learn how to move with it, rather than getting stuck between a rock and a hard place. And once we get stuck, getting out of that situation can be surprisingly difficult.

We may doubt ourselves or become discouraged by past disappointments. We convince ourselves to give up on a dream, not because it no longer matters, but because holding on to it is uncomfortable or uncertain. To persevere in action despite mental barriers is a simple method is simple but not easy: just keep going. Persevere, even if progress seems slow or unclear. Too often, we give up on what we want most, whether it's a peaceful home, meaningful work, deep friendships, or a sense of purpose.

This post is a reminder that it's never too late to pick ourselves up from what we perceived as ruins and move on, because treasure may await us on the new paths that open up before us. I've heard that the secret of manifestation has something to do with “alignment.”

Alignment: The Breath of a Loved One

So what does “alignment” mean? It means living in a way that is true to yourself. It means that our actions, values, and inner sense of direction are all pointing in the same direction, rather than contradicting each other. It is a quiet relief that comes when internal conflicts subside and we no longer live in contradiction to our own truth. As contradictions lose their power, friction disappears and new possibilities emerge. From this place of harmony, movement feels natural. Our journeys and shared experiences do not arise as plans, but as responses to the direction in which the current flows.

Adaptation is not about striving for perfection or certainty, but about responding. Listening, adjusting, and being present in what life requires of us, without abandoning what is most important.

Rumi tells us that treasure is found in ruins, and perhaps this is because ruins strip us of what no longer fits. What remains is closer to the truth of who we are and where we are going. Adaptation also lies in the willingness to pause, take an honest look at what has changed, and move forward with less baggage than before.

So stand in your ruin.

Feel the earth beneath your feet.

And listen to the whisper of the treasure

that waited for you to stop searching

and start listening.
